Anil Chacko, PhD

Senior Psychologist

Dr. Chacko (he/him) is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of ADHD and related conditions, including oppositional, defiant and aggressive behaviors, emotional disorders (depression and anxiety) as well as issues related to life stressors, adjustment, transitions, and parenting. He sees children, adolescents, adults, and parents, utilizing a behavioral and cognitive-behavioral approach.

Dr. Chacko is the Program Director of the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program and the Chair of the Psychology Department at New York University. He is also a Professorial Lecturer at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Chacko’s research interest includes the development and evaluation of intervention approaches to address ADHD and related disorders. His work has been supported through grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. He has served in various roles to support the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based practices. Currently, he is a member of the American Psychological Association's Advisory Steering Committee for the Development of Clinical Practice Guidelines, whose mission is to support the development of scientifically rigorous clinical practice guidelines that advance effective health care for diverse populations across the United States. He is the father of two high school boys.
