Our semiannual Workshop for College & Graduate Students with ADHD is a seven-hour program that covers all things related to executive functioning (EF) and ADHD in higher education. It derives from evidence-based interventions that have been shown to lead to significant improvements in ADHD-related symptoms and impairment.
Designed for: Students in higher (college or graduate level) education with EF difficulties and/or ADHD
Objective: Learn strategies for success in academics (and beyond) and personal growth
Details: A structured, didactic, small group format emphasizes skill acquisition through lessons and exercises and offers a safe, nonjudgmental forum for participation and peer support.
Students will learn to:
• Manage time, plan and complete work efficiently, and balance work and tasks with social time and relaxation
• Increase motivation and overcome procrastination
• Effectively note-take, study for exams, and write essays and research papers
• Organize and keep track of files, paperwork, and belongings
• Face the uncomfortable: recognize and address interfering emotions and related thoughts, catch the urge to avoid, address unhelpful thinking patterns, and improve distress tolerance and willingness to till with difficult tasks
• Maintain a healthy lifestyle, prioritizing sleep, meals, exercise, and recreational/social activities; keep upwith chores and medication
• Understand the ADHD brain - including its assets and its vulnerabilities - and how to leverage strengths to achieve goals; embrace strengths and differences and feel more confident about an ADHD diagnosis
• Utilize on-campus supports and perform successful self-advocacy; know when and how to seek help
