Our semiannual Workshop for College & Graduate Students with ADHD is a full-day, engaging and comprehensive dive into the skills students need to manage executive functions (EF) and ADHD in higher education. It is rooted in evidence-based interventions (CBT, ACT, and well researched executive functioning programs) and is a consistent hit amongst students, who learn the practical tools they need to be successful during the academic year and beyond, all while embracing their unique wiring in a supportive and affirming space.

Designed for: Students in higher (college or graduate level) education with EF difficulties and/or ADHD

Objective: Learn strategies for success in academics and beyond

Details: A structured, didactic, small group format emphasizes skill acquisition through lessons and exercises and offers a safe, nonjudgmental forum for participation and peer support.

Students will learn to:

• Manage time, plan and complete work efficiently, and balance work and tasks with social time and relaxation

• Increase motivation and overcome procrastination

• Effectively note-take, study for exams, and write essays and research papers

• Organize and keep track of files, paperwork, and belongings

• Face the uncomfortable: recognize and address interfering emotions and related thoughts, catch the urge to avoid, address unhelpful thinking patterns, and improve distress tolerance and willingness to stick with difficult tasks

• Maintain a healthy lifestyle, prioritizing sleep, meals, exercise, and recreational/social activities; keep up with chores and medication

• Understand the ADHD brain - including its assets and its vulnerabilities - and how to leverage strengths to achieve goals; embrace strengths and differences, and feel more confident about an ADHD diagnosis

• Utilize on-campus supports and perform successful self-advocacy; know when and how to seek help

Date for next group: Friday, August 14, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, in our Upper West Side office. Food/drink and ample breaks are provided.
